The original chaitya built at this temple nearly 200 years ago was later worn down and reduced to a state of dilapidation over the years not conducive for reverence and religious homage. As such as thirty one "riyana" (measure)  chaitya of the traditional bell-shape was constructed in the year 2000AD. It is this new chaitya with its attractive arches and decorative walls that one sees at the temple premises today.
